I. R&D Background and Objectives

  • The ramie stripping process accounts for more than two-thirds of the labor involved in the entire production process. It is labor-intensive, seasonal, and technically demanding, which has become a major bottleneck hindering the large-scale and mechanized development of the ramie industry.
  • Existing fully automatic reverse-pull ramie stripping machines have three major problems: unstable feeding due to reliance on gravity, where differences in ramie rod sizes easily affect stripping results; twigs and leaves becoming entangled at the tip with the machine’s axles or drive components, leading to breakdowns; and the need for horizontal movement mechanisms, which require a large horizontal footprint and hinder space-efficient layout.
  • The R&D objective is to address the shortcomings of existing equipment, achieve a stable, efficient, and compact layout for the entire stripping process, and accommodate the mechanized processing of ramie of various specifications.

II. Core Structure of the Device

(I) Main Components

The device includes a feeding device, a second ramie stripping device, a first ramie stripping device, a rotating column, as well as a first clamping device and a second clamping device having the same structure (the second clamping device is located on the axial side of the first clamping device).

(II) Functions of Key Components

  1. Clamping device: Consists of an upper support plate, a lower support plate, an upper clamping roller, and a lower clamping roller, which form a gap for clamping ramie; equipped with a drive system (first and second drive motors) to rotate the rollers, a vertical adjustment system (first and second vertical telescopic cylinders) to adjust the size and vertical position of the clamping gap, and a horizontal adjustment system (two sets of horizontal telescopic cylinders) to adjust the distance between the two clamping devices.
  2. Rotating column: Consists of a rotating base and a column supported on the rotating base, which can rotate around its own axis to drive the two sets of clamping devices to rotate synchronously, thereby transferring the ramie from the feeding end to the stripping area.
  3. Ramie stripping device: The first ramie stripping device includes upper and lower rollers positioned vertically opposite each other, forming a first feeding gap that extends horizontally backward (at the same height as the bearing surface of the feeding device); the second ramie stripping device includes upper and lower rollers arranged at an angle to each other, forming a second feeding gap that extends obliquely forward and upward.
  4. Feeding device: Features a conveyor belt, with the tips of the ramie fibers on the belt extending toward the second ramie stripping device; a gap is provided between the conveyor belt and the second ramie stripping device to allow for twigs and leaves to pass through.

III. Core Working Principle

  1. Feeding and clamping: Ramie is conveyed by the conveyor belt. Once the tip extends beyond the conveyor belt, the two sets of clamping devices clamp the ramie from the side, and the horizontal adjustment device simultaneously scrapes off the twigs and leaves at the tip while providing stable support.
  2. Transfer and feeding: The rotating column rotates to transfer the clamped ramie between the first and second ramie stripping devices; the vertical adjustment device adjusts the vertical position of the clamping gap, allowing the ramie to enter the feeding gap at an appropriate angle.
  3. Reverse-pull stripping: The drive motor rotates the clamping rollers, applying reverse traction to the ramie. The ramie is first stripped by the first ramie stripping device, then the entire rod is stripped by the second ramie stripping device, and finally, efficient fiber separation is achieved.

IV. Core Advantages

  1. Compact and space-saving: Replaces the traditional horizontal moving mechanism with a rotating column, significantly reducing the equipment's horizontal footprint and making it suitable for space-constrained environments.
  2. High adaptability: The clamping distance is adjusted via the horizontal adjustment device, and the feeding angle is adjusted via the vertical adjustment device, allowing the machine to accommodate ramie of various specifications.
  3. Stable operation: Removes twigs and leaves from the tip in advance to prevent equipment malfunctions caused by entanglement; actively adjusts the feeding position to resolve feeding instability issues.
  4. High efficiency and quality: The reverse-pull active feeding design improves stripping efficiency, reduces fiber damage and breakage, and ensures stripping quality.
